Sharing the Compass at the Rethinking Education Conference

Making my way to London seemed like a mission with train strikes and with an influx of other travellers who were hoping to line the streets for the Queen’s funeral, but it was well worth crossing the city with my trusty sign rolled up under my arm and my pocket compasses ready to share. In September, The Rethinking Education conference was an opportunity for educators, parents and students to come together to learn and share their ideas about the education system both here in the UK and beyond.

The Compass Education booth - small, but mighty with an interactive Compass for participants to try!

Attendees had travelled from all over the UK and there were international participants who were attending the online conference too. Kate Doré and I recorded a Compass Education workshop earlier so I was free to chat at the booth and attend a few of the talks. If you would like to view our mini workshop, ‘An Introduction to the Sustainability Compass’ and any other speakers (and there are some great ones!) you can access the videos on the Rethinking Education website

Many at the conference were from alternative education settings. It was interesting to share the Compass tool with them as well as the young people who were attending the conference. Lots of people left the conference with a pocket compass tucked into their pocket and enthusiasm to find out more so I’m hoping that we soon have a flurry of compasses appearing in learning settings all over the UK!
