SUSTAINABLE SCHOOLS DAY
October 26
Sustainable Schools Day celebrates schools worldwide that are taking steps to integrate sustainability as a core value and practice in all aspects of their communities.
Schools are the hubs of every community, and Sustainable Schools are systemic catalysts with the power to change the world!
In the lead-up to October 26, Compass Education is working to collect stories and examples from around the world! We also hope to use your examples to advocate for a Sustainable Schools Day to become an officially recognized UN Day!
Share
Share a 1-minute video, a piece of art, or less than a 150-word paragraph about at least one initiative or project your school community is doing to practice sustainability.
We will share your videos and stories on our Sustainable Schools Day Padlet on our website. We also hope to use your examples to advocate for a Sustainable Schools Day to become an officially recognized UN Day!
Reflect
Reflect on your school’s whole-system sustainability, including its strengths and room for growth, with our free Compass Education School Sustainability Self-Assessment Tool! You can do this on your own, or we recommend getting together a group of community stakeholders to fill it out together!
Connect
Join us for our Partnership for the Goals Educator Exchange on October 26! This 75-minute celebration will have two parts:
- Presentations and free resources from amazing global organizations that support schools and teachers to teach and act for sustainability
- Educator Exchange groups where participants will exchange ideas and experiences cultivating sustainable schools and learning communities.
