SUMMARY:Pedagogical Approaches to Sustainability and Global Citizenship Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will be held at the 2024 ACAMIS Chinese Conference on Sunday\, June 23 from 10:00 – 11:15 am at Nanjing International School\, China. Visit the ACAMIS website to learn more about the conference and register for the event. \n  \nDescription\nUtilizing systems thinking tools\, the Sustainable Compass and the Systems Iceberg\, in unpacking perspectives\, exploring interconnectedness\, deepening understanding and embracing complexity towards more impactful and sustainable solutions – and\, most importantly\, empowering youth leaders for a more just and sustainable world. \n  \nSpeakers\nZhenying Liang\nZhenying is originally from southern China. She has taught in international schools in China\, and Vietnam and currently continues her teaching journey in Thailand. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture and a Master’s in Education. Additionally\, she is also a Compass Education facilitator for systems thinking. She teaches Chinese and Experiential Learning classes. She believes that systems thinking can empower students to effectively tackle complex challenges and maximize their collective impact. \n  \n  \nCindy Chen\nGrowing up in a multi-cultural environment\, Cindy thrives to cultivate a global approach in education supporting and working with the young leaders of the world. Cindy’s involvement with Compass Education started as a passionate teacher who wished to expand her horizons and tools towards systems thinking in 2013. Ever since\, sustainability has been her core value\, practices\, and now a trainer with Compass Education\, a non-profit network equipping schools for a sustainable future. Cindy is currently a learner and educator at NIST International School for MYP Sciences\, DP Environmental Systems and Societies\, and Secondary Service Coordinator. She works with various young leaders exploring possibilities\, passions\, and taking action in their local community through exploratory\, experiential\, and service-learning. Cindy is very blessed to be involved in a very supportive and collaborative network amongst international schools in Thailand. She is an active advisor for the Bangkok ServICE Network\, which inspires\, connects and empowers students and educators in the Bangkok-Pattaya-Phuket regions. She co-organized and hosted the 5th and 7th annual conferences.

SUMMARY:Introduction to the Compass Tools (Onsite Workshop)
DESCRIPTION:This event is an onsite Introduction to the Compass Tools workshop with a focus on Systems Thinking and Sustainability Mindsets for Exploring Complex Issues hosted by Sage Hill School in California\, USA. This workshop will be held on June 25-26 for Sage Hill School staff only. \n  \nAbout the Workshop\nThis workshop will teach the fundamentals of sustainability and systems thinking to students who want to explore how we can harness these tools and skill sets to build and promote community harmony and well-being. Participants will leave this workshop with new tools and frameworks they can use to discuss complex social and environmental issues with others\, plus a deeper understanding of how to work toward thinking systemically about change. \n  \nFacilitator\nGitanjali Paul\nGitanjali Paul designs and facilitates learning for a more just\, sustainable world. From classroom to community work\, she specializes in Education for Sustainable Development and making systems change. Gitanjali is the Education Program Manager at nonprofit Compass Education\, where she leads program development and a dynamic Global Facilitator Network that trains others on systems thinking tools for sustainability education. Gitanjali is indefatigably inquisitive. She has a B.A. in Peace and Justice Studies from Tufts University\, and an M.Ed in Education Policy\, Research and Administration from the University of Massachusetts\, Amherst. Gitanjali learns continually from nature\, cooking experiments\, adventures with family\, and her Filipina rescue cat\, Mahatma Charlie. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n\n  \nAre you looking to build a culture of sustainability in your school?
